I used Flock for the first time today, I am impressed. It’s a nice socializer and comes with capabilities of Firefox. Amazingly beautiful.

It’s become a common question right now that why FireFox 2 is not available on the Fedora Core 6 default package repositories? The answer seems to be on the FireFox 2 page of the Fedora Project Wiki. A small quote from this page:
For a variety of reasons, we are not planning to update to Firefox 2.0. We are instead focusing resources on Firefox 3.0, which will provide much more substantial benefits. We understand that some users will be willing to accept the risk of running Firefox 2.0 to gain compatibility with new extensions (e.g., Zotero and Halfnote). We have made available an experimental version of Firefox 2.0. However, we must stress that we believe the best experience for Fedora users will be to stay with Firefox 1.5 and wait for the Firefox 3.0 update. The experimental development version is available here:

You can also install the development version. Warning: This might result in instability.
$ yum --enablerepo=development install firefox
There are alternative ways posted over the Internet to install FireFox 2 onto Fedora Core 6, Jason Burns writes about one of them.
Today I installed FC6 on my Compaq Presario V2000, had to do some tweaks to get the WiFi running. Here is what I did:
1) Install Livna RPM Repository information:
$ rpm -ivh http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-6.rpm
2) Install ipw2200 firmware:
$ yum install ipw2200-firmware
3) Add following to /etc/modprobe.conf:
options ipw2200 hwcrypto=1 associate=0
4) Add ESSID and CHANNEL in
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1:
ESSID=
CHANNEL=
5) Add the KEY (WEP or WPA etc.) to
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/keys-eth1.
6) Start:
$ ifup eth1
It starting working for me, did less struggle as compared to FC5.
I never took a look at any of the Live CDs, but today Ubuntu Live CD helped me write this post. I don’t know what heppened to the OSs installed on my Lappy. Trying to figure that out.

Linux powered Moto Ming (Motorola A1200) was launched in India two weeks back. It’s one of the latest Linux based Moto phones. Phone looks awesome and is too delicate to handle. After beeing in my hands for two weeks it has already got a few scratches
. 2 MP camera, Smooth rubber coated body, translucent cover, bussiness card reader, touch screen and really great sound quality make this phone even more must to have. Ming in chinese means crystal clear and bright, this phone proves the meaning. J2ME applications are easily installable, and Yahoo! has promised to launch “Y! Go” for Motorola phones too.
When I bought a Linksys WRT54G Version 5 around 10 months back I was hittng my head against the wall after learning that it runs on VxWorks instead of Linux. The playground I expected was lost. But Thanks to Jeremy who has written a VxWorks Killer and nicely documented it, I flashed my unit’s firmware with Linux based dd-wrt micro. Kudos to him, there is so much to look inside.
