Brindavan Garden, originally uploaded by abgpt.

Brindavan Garden (near Mysore in Karnataka, India) is amazingly awe-inspiring specially in the night. This photo is of the colourful fountains which are an integral part of the beautiful garden, taken at aperture f/5.6, 10 sec shutter speed and 6 mm focal length by my Canon S3 IS.

If you ask me what do I want in the middle of my daily office work? What do you think would be my answer?

1) Singing “These are a few of my favorite things”?

2) Watching the whole “The Sound of Music”?

3) Pronouncing “rrrrrrruuummmmpunch”?

4) Listening to “Just you wait, ‘enry ‘iggins, just you wait!”?

5) Having a pizza on a WFH evening?

6) Finding an excuse to buy a new cell phone?

7) Watching video songs on VH1 all the saturday night?

8) Missing Dehradun a lot?

9) Catch a flight back to home?

Hurrrrrraaaay… Going to home…:)

HAPPY DIWALI… It’s really supercalifragilisticexpialidocious…

Savanadurga is a hill 67 kms away from Bangalore (India) off the Magadi road 12.919654° N 77.292881° E. It is a beautiful place surrounded with lots of greenery. It has rich medicinal value plants. It is also a house of deer, panthers, snakes and is a very popular place for bird watching.

Savanadurga hill is a great monolith rock of 1,020 feet with a circumference of 6 km. The hill rises to 1226 m above mean sea level and forms a part of the Deccan plateau. The hill is famous for a temple and is also believed to be among the largest monolith hills. It consists of peninsular gneiss, granites, basic dykes and laterites. It is a paradise for rock climbers.

Surrounding the area is a state forest with scrub and dry deciduous forest covering 27 sq. km. The degraded forest, which is considered as shrub and tree savanna of the Anogeissus?Chloroxylon?Acacia series is highly diverse, recording over 59 tree and 119 shrub species. The Arkavathi river passes nearby through the Thippagondanahalli reservoir and on towards Manchanabele.

Savanadurga is a place of historic importance as well due to its ancient temples, ruins and a fort at the top of the hill which was built by King Samantha Raya. It was also used as the hideout of Kempe Gowda.

This was also a location for the making of David Lean’s movie “Passage to India”.

Shivanasamudram Falls2

Shivanasamudram

Ooooh… whatta height… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shivanasamudram

Shivanasamudram (also known as the Siva Samudram) is a waterfall in southern Karnataka, Malavalli taluk, Mandya District. The Kaveri River splits here around a small island resulting in two cascades flowing into the same pool. The western cascade is known as Gaganachukki and the eastern cascade is known as Bharachukki.

It is a 4 km deviation from the route to Kollegal from Bangalore (Via Kanakapura). The waterfall is 98 m tall, and has a maximum recorded flow of 667,000 cubic feet per sec. One of Asia’s oldest hydro-electric power station, still functional, is located at the waterfall. This spectacular waterfall is surrounded by hill forests of the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary. It’s really a nice place to visit.
